Geren Island Water Treatment Facility Intake Structure Environmental Permitting for City of Salem Public Works Department, Stayton, Oregon.
The City of Salem’s Water Treatment Facility contains three intake structures located off of the north channel of the North Santiam River. The middle intake is the only fully compliant intake and was constructed as a part of the Geren Island Water Treatment Facility Expansion project in 1997. Due to river hydro-dynamics during low water conditions, there is a buildup of sediments behind the fish screens. ES&A prepared, submitted and secured USACE/DSL joint Section 404/Removal-Fill permits and prepared mitigation plans for modification of the bank located adjacent to and upstream from the middle intake. Also, ES&A is coordinating with NOAA Fisheries regarding 4(d) Limit applications submitted for all of the intake structures.

Cambridge Village, Logan and Vermont Hills Pump Stations Decommissioning for City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, Portland, Oregon.
The three pump stations are located in environmental zones adjacent to either the Fanno Creek waterway or tributaries to Fanno Creek. Also, one of the pump stations is located within the Fanno Creek 100-year floodplain. ES&A conducted vegetation inventories for the three pump stations that were proposed for decommissioning in the Fanno Creek basin. ES&A prepared and submitted City of Portland Land Use applications and responded to questions until approvals were obtained.
