Environmental
Science & Assessment (ES&A) provides natural resources management
services and environmental documentation for public infrastructure
projects, public and private facility expansions and private development.
Wetlands
ES&As project work includes wetland reconnaissance, delineation,
mitigation planning and bioengineering design. Our expertise in
botany, soils and surface water hydrology assists us in evaluating
a range of sites from pristine wetlands and streams to those subject
to severe historical disturbances.
Wildlife
We conduct wildlife studies that include amphibians, reptiles, birds
(including shorebird census for North American flyway) and mammals.
Our experience includes evaluating sites for presence, signs of
presence (i.e., tracks, scat, etc.) and habitat types.
Endangered Species Act
ES&A conducts sensitive species impact evaluations and prepares
documents for compliance with the Endangered Species Act, including
Biological Assessments and Habitat Conservation Plans. We perform
surveys for a variety of sensitive, threatened and endangered species
including steelhead, chinook and coho salmon, coastal cutthroat
trout, Oregon chub, Nelsons checker-mallow, Bradshaws
lomatium, bald eagle, marbled murrelet, snowy plover, western painted
turtle and northern red-legged frogs.
Environmental Permitting
We prepare state and federal and state environmental permits (Corps
Section 404/DSL Removal-Fill), permits for local jurisdictions (building
and land use) and for infrastructure (Union Pacific Railroad, Oregon
Department of Transportation, Oregon Department of Environmental
Quality). Our expert knowledge of environmental regulations and
strong working relationships with local, state and federal agencies
ensures that our clients receive required approvals at reasonable
cost and with minimal delay.
NEPA/SEPA
We prepare NEPA Environmental Assessments (EAs) for a wide
range of infrastructure projects including pipelines, roads and
bridges. We also prepare SEPA checklists and EAs for jurisdictions
in Washington State.
